FLW: Locking It Up

On top of trying out how to catch a few bass tomorrow, I have been laboring over whether or not to sacrifice valuable fishing time by locking through one or even two locks to try to get away from the crowd. By my calculations, if I lock twice into pool #3, I will only have 3 1/2 hours to fish at the most. I'm sure I'll be thinking about that one all night long... Anyway, who said fishing is a relaxing sport?

Watch the FLW Red River weigh-in live tomorrow at 3 p.m.

  1. Great post Joe, Does the lockmaster do it on schedule or based on boats waiting? I have seen too many time boats getting hung up by locks not being opened on time or by anglers leading day three, getting to their spots only to have them dry up with no back up plan.

    Maddening

  2. That sounds like a "no" to me. I am not sure how busy the locks are over there, but here in upper Illinois, they can be incredibly unpredictable. You may plan on it taking "x" amount of time, but it ends up taking longer.

Unless you know some "hot spots" that others dont!
